These under-cabinet LED lights make for a cheap and renter-friendly kitchen upgrade

White LED lights under cabinets illuminating a kitchen counter

  • I wanted to give my kitchen a modern look without spending a lot, so I tried these LEDs from Amazon.
  • At $24, they're much cheaper than fully integrated kitchen lights or installing a smart light kit.
  • They look great, can change colors, and are useful when I need more light while using the counters.
Puck LED Light (6-Pack) (small)

When I was apartment hunting last year, I narrowed my search down to two apartments that were a block away from each other. The first one was small, but it had a beautiful modern kitchen with a tile backsplash and adjustable lighting underneath the gray cabinets.

I went with the second apartment building because it was more spacious, had better amenities, and was still cheaper - but that kitchen, specifically the lighting, was something I couldn't get out of my head.

As I was furnishing my new apartment, I thought it would be cool to recreate the look of lights under the cabinets while sticking to a tight budget. I knew that installing lights that I could control with a wall switch would be too involved for a rental apartment. Popular smart light kits like Philips cost hundreds of dollars, so I took a gamble on these $24 Cadrim LED puck lights on Amazon and it worked out perfectly.

LED light on bottom of cabinet illuminating a kitchen sink

Installing the lights was incredibly easy. Each light requires three AA batteries and comes with double-sided adhesive pads to stick underneath your cabinets. No wiring, no pairing to your smartphone and WiFi, and no drilling are required to install.

The lights look amazing at night when the kitchen is all cleaned, but they also come in handy when I need extra illumination while using the counter space. You can turn individual lights on by clicking them or you adjust all of the lights at once with the included remote.

Hand holding a colorful remote that controls LED lights

I personally like the white lights best, but you can choose between a variety of colors as well.

Red LED lights under cabinets illuminating the kitchen counter

My kitchen might not be as fancy as that chef-inspired kitchen I fell in love with, but for $24, I couldn't be happier with the Cadrim LED puck lights.

A handheld vacuum

With a flip-up brush head for dusting and cleaning upholstery and a pull-out crevice tool for hard to reach areas, it'll clean every corner of a car's interior.

A laser radar detector
Cobra RAD 450 Laser Radar Detector

Cobra RAD 450 Laser Radar Detector, available at Amazon, $114.99

You shouldn't encourage the car lover on your list to exceed the speed limit, but let's face it — some people just have a heavy foot while driving. The Cobra RAD 450 Radar Detector can help alert them of police scanners ahead, so they'll know when it's time to slow down. If it saves them from getting one speeding ticket, it will essentially pay for itself — and then some. Keep in mind that radar and laser detectors are legal in all states except Virginia and Washington D.C.

The 10 best places to shop for men’s underwear

Tommy John best men's underwear
  • Underwear is the one thing you wear every day, but probably hardly put any thought into.
  • It may be time for an upgrade in comfort and style - and here are the best places to shop.
  • Our favorite places to buy underwear include Tommy John, Saxx, MeUndies, Bombas, and All Citizens.

If there's one article of clothing you wear every day, it's a pair of underwear. They've become such a standard wardrobe staple that most people put little to no thought into the kinds they buy. If you're still grabbing the cheapest multi-pack on the shelf, you're definitely missing out on comfort. The best underwear for men doesn't bunch or ride up, but you don't necessarily need to spend a ton of cash for the upgrade.

So if you're ready to swap out your old underwear, you're in the right place. I have all of the perfect recommendations for the best men's underwear, and where to buy it.

Here are the best places to buy men's underwear:

Table of Contents: Masthead Sticky

Tommy John
Tommy John

Tommy John has a great selection of fits, sizes, and materials, to appeal to most all body types and comfort preferences.

Sizing info: S-XXL

You know that one pair of boxers you get a little bit excited to put on when it makes its way to the top of the pile in your underwear drawer? For me, it's Tommy John.

The brand was founded in 2008 with the goal of updating undergarments with modern comfort elements, and they've absolutely done that. I've tried just about every noteworthy underwear brand you'd find in a Google search, and Tommy John surpasses them all.

The primary reason I like Tommy John so much is the amazing fit. Boxer briefs are my go-to underwear style, and Tommy John's has a slightly longer-than-average inseam length. This totally eliminates that awful feeling of riding up or chafing. There's plenty of room and support in all the right places.

If you like trunks, briefs, or relaxed fit boxers, Tommy John has all of those too. You'll also find sport leggings, which are essentially full-length underwear.

In terms of materials, Tommy John has several types to offer. They include Cool Cotton, Air, Second Skin, and a newly-introduced Second Skin Micro Rib. Each material is designed to meet specific needs like cool comfort, softness, and breathability.

I've worn them all (with the exception of the Second Skin Micro Rib, which was recently released), and they're all exceptionally comfortable. Tommy John underwear is expensive, but they outlast cheaper pairs that go bad after a few wash and dry cycles.

What to buy:

Cool Cotton Boxer Brief (small)Cotton Basics Boxer Brief (small) Hanes
Hanes

Where would we all be without Hanes, really?

Sizing options: S-XXXL

Founded in 1900, Hanes, for all intents and purposes, pretty much invented modern underwear. Love or hate underwear, we'd have our work cut out for ourselves if we were to claim not to have some deep appreciation for this brand.

These days, Hanes offers every kind of boxer, brief, and boxer brief you could imagine with dozens of styles. You'll find everything from high-tech synthetic athletic to the good old-fashioned cotton the brand was built on.

This brand is timeless and it's not going anywhere soon. Plus, as some of the most affordable underwear you can buy, it's a good way to fill out your drawer when a five-pack is still cheaper than single pairs from the popular direct-to-consumer startups on our list.

You'll find pairs with FreshIQ odor-reducing technology and the new Total Support Pouch, which gives you some of the features of more moderns brands without the steep price tag.

What to buy:

Ultimate Comfort Flex Fit Total Support Pouch Boxer Brief 4-Pack (small)FreshIQ Boxer Briefs (small) Mack Weldon
Mack Weldon Silver Underwear

Similar to garments worn by NASA, Olympic athletes, and US Special Forces, Mack Weldon Silver Underwear adds pure silver to its Supima cotton to provide strong odor protection.

Sizing options: S-XXL

Using a combination of Pima cotton, Silver XT2, and Lycra, the Mack Weldon Silver Boxer Briefs are made with some of the highest quality materials available.

While Supima cotton and lycra are commonly used in all types of clothes intended to be soft and comfortable, the inclusion of pure silver is rather important. Silver is naturally anti-microbial, so it helps rid garments of bacteria, including the types that cause odor. Learn about XT2 technology here

To put into perspective how useful silver can be, similar technology has been used in clothing for NASA astronauts, Olympic athletes, and US Special Forces.

Although astronauts probably have to wear their gear for much longer than you have to wear your underwear, you'll still get great use out of them in the real world. Whether you work super long days, you live a high-intensity athletic lifestyle, or you're on a camping or hunting trip where showers are few and far between, you'll get through it without stinking.

In addition to odor protection, the Silver Boxer Briefs are very comfortable thanks to a no-roll waistband, which is designed to prevent digging into the skin, and targeted mesh zones to keep high-heat areas nice and cool.

I own far too many pairs of underwear to ever have to wear any pair for more than a day, but I love to grab a pair of my Silver Boxers when I know I'll be active for a long period of time.

What to buy:

Silver Boxer Briefs (small) MeUndies
meundies

MeUndies specializes in fun, colorful, comfortable basics for everyone.

Sizing Options: S-4XL

If you're tired of boring tighty whities (or other basics underwear options), MeUndies is the easiest way to liven up your underwear draw. While you can buy items individually, the subscription model will allow you to save money and effortlessly build your collection of fun and colorful underwear.

For $16 a month, you'll get one pair of underwear. You get to choose your preferred underwear style, size, and design type. You can pick between Adventurous, which might include anything from dinosaurs to fun geometric patterns, Bold, which is includes bright colors, and Classic, which is a safe pick for colors like black, white, grey, and blue. And if you and your partner want to match, you can find the same patterns in colors in other styles for everyone.

Subscription holders will also get early access and discounts on other products, which is the best way to save on the MeUndies loungewear we love.

MeUndies isn't the most advanced when it comes to different material and fit choices, but the options that are available are super comfortable.

What to buy:

Men's Membership (small) Saxx
Saxx Underwear

Saxx Underwear delivers top-not support below the belt and plenty of fun colors and patterns.

Sizing options: XS-XXL

While some underwear brands primarily focus on either comfort or fun patterns, Saxx Underwear manages to do both exceptionally well.

The highlight of the brand's comfort technology is the BallPark Pouch, which adds support, limits chafing, reduces moisture, and prevents you from having to constantly readjust yourself. For most men, there's not much more you can ask for in underwear.

You'll find basic solid colors as well as cool patterns, bright colors, and themes. If you like to have fun with your underwear, you'll find plenty of options to fill your drawer with.

At $25 or more for a single pair, they're considerably more expensive than other brands, but the quality, comfort, and options make them well worth it.

Six guys from the Insider Reviews team tried out the brand. Read our full review on Saxx here.

What to buy:

Ultra Boxer Brief (small)Vibe Boxer Brief (small)Undercover Brief (small) Bonobos
Bonobos

With true waist sizes, you'll never get the wrong fit from Bonobos Underwear.

Sizing options: waist sizes 28-40

Most men's underwear comes in alpha sizes like small, medium, and large, which can force you to guess your size by following some obscure size chart.

Bonobos is known for its amazing pants, and they've put the same level of skill in detail into its underwear. Bonobos Underwear comes in waist sizes, from 28-inch to 40-inch waists. By using the same methodology that goes into finding the best fit in pants, you'll never have to worry about fitting into general underwear sizes.

Available as 5" inseam boxer briefs and 3" inseam trucks, each pair of Bonobos Underwear uses a stretch waistband that never restricts you and super soft anti-microbial, moisture-wicking fabric for maximum comfort.

At $34 a pair, Bonobos Underwear is expensive, but there's usually a discount when you buy them in bulk.

What to buy:

Underwear (small) Organic Basics
Organic Basics

Danish brand Organic Basics is the Everlane of boxers and briefs (though they make a lot more than that).

Sizing options: S-XXL

Made with 93% recycled nylon and 7% elastane, Organic Basics estimates that compared with traditional methods using virgin materials, production of its "SilverTech" style conserves some 21 gallons of water and prevents 4.2 pounds of CO2 and one ounce of waste from entering the atmosphere and earth. We can't quite confirm this, but take a virtual tour of the brand's factories and learn more about its practices.

As for the product itself, the brand only uses Class A and B fibers, which means that even though this stuff is recycled, it's every bit as soft as brand-spanking-new stuff, and a lot less weight on the world.

SilverTech, which we find to be Organic Basics' most interesting style, is in fact infused with silver, which is supposed to quell odor and bacteria buildup. In our experience, it helps a good bit, but maybe not quite as well as others we've tried. The real win here is the comfort that these skivvies offer, and since I've had them (over a year now), they've easily been my most-worn pairs. A more relaxed boxer brief, they hold everything more or less in place while sitting flush so I can wear them with just about any pair of pants.

Organic Basics offers a couple of fabrics beyond their SilverTech, and unlike that line, they're much more on the organic side: Tencel (a wood-pulp-based cellulose that's more breathable and less shrinkable and wrinkle-inclined than cotton), and organic cotton (spiked with 5% of elastane).

What to buy:

TENCEL™ Lite Boxers (2-Pack) (small)

Allbirds
Allbirds underwear

You already know Allbirds for its insanely popular wool sneakers, but did you know they make underwear too?

Allbirds, the popular wool footwear startup, recently released underwear that came as a total surprise, albeit a welcome one. The Allbirds Trino Boxer Briefs are made from a blend of eucalyptus tree material and merino wool, which delivers a lightweight, airy, and a soft-on-your-skin feel. They aren't the least bit itchy like a typical wool material, so you shouldn't have any discomfort unless you have a severe allergy to wool.

At $24, the Allbirds Trino Boxer Briefs are cheaper than every pair on our list except for the budget pick from Hanes. Although I really enjoyed wearing them, they weren't notable enough to dethrone our current best overall pick or cheap enough to replace our budget pick, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy them.

If you want more premium underwear than a standard budget 6-pack, but can't quite justify or afford to pay Tommy John prices, Allbirds is a good middle ground. They're also a great choice if sustainability plays a major part in the items you buy.

All Citizens
All Citizens underwear

If you're tired of hanging all over the place, All Citizens' Paradise Pouch Boxer Briefs will provide total support and comfort.

Sizing options: S-XXL; available in standard, athletic, and longer fits

There's a lot more than a person's waist size that goes into finding comfortable underwear, and All Citizens recognizes that.

Perhaps named after its inclusivity, All Citizens has underwear for almost every size and shape. Although I'm not very tall, I went with the longer fit because I hate when my underwear ride up and I've come to like longer pairs from other brands.

My first impression holding them in my hand was that they were substantially better quality than most other brands. They're pretty thick — but not to the point of being uncomfortable or hot. I could tell that they would be able to hold up well to countless washes and wears, and after several months, they've done exactly that.

All Citizens also takes support seriously with its Paradise Pocket. While all underwear brands are gradually becoming more concerned with support, All Citizens has arguably the most advanced system to keep your business in place. Most pouch designs are more or less two extra pieces of fabric, the Paradise Pocket is a comfortable compartment that keeps you from hanging all over the place.

At $18, they're a bit more affordable than other premium underwear — and there's no compromise in quality.

What to buy:

The Paradise Pocket™ Standard Fit Boxer Brief (small) Bombas
Bombas

For every pair of Bombas underwear your buy, the brand will donate a pair to someone in need.

Sizing options: S-3XL

Bombas socks have been some of the best socks in the industry for some time now, and the newly introduced underwear live up to that same level of quality.

Made from a blend of cotton and modal, the underwear are incredibly soft and smooth, giving them a comfortable next-to-skin feeling. The blend of materials also makes them durable for continuous wears and washes — which is super important considering how much I like wearing them.

There are very few seams on the underwear which means there are few points for discomfort like digging into your skin or bunching up. One of the most interesting features is the diagonal fly. It's much easier to access than other designs, but still remains secure.

Bombas offers Boxer Briefs, Trunks, and Briefs to accommodate all style preferences.

Testing methodology

The best way to test underwear is to simply wear them in your everyday life. There's a long list of brands making men's underwear brands and for the last 3.5 years, I have been actively testing boxer briefs. My testing has become so in-depth and sample units have become so abundant that I have not had to purchase underwear myself.

I've taken into consideration important factors like comfort, performance, inclusivity, and accuracy of sizes and fits, and durability with wears and washes, and price. While most underwear on this list is more expensive than a basic 6-pack, you can rest assured they meet a certain level of quality and longevity in your closet.

I own more than 200 pairs of shoes and these clever shoe boxes with front-opening lids solved my storage nightmare

The Container Store Drop Front Shoe Boxes

Table of Contents: Masthead StickyLarge Drop-Front Shoe Box (small)

I own a lot of shoes, and I must admit that they were getting out of hand. In my bedroom, I have two four-tier shelving racks with boxes stacked to the ceiling, shoe boxes underneath my bed, and a short stack at the foot of my bed.

Related Article Module: The best closet and drawer organizers

Even after thoughtfully organizing my shoes to the best of my ability (by brand, silhouette, or general style), my setup would quickly turn into a total disaster when I'd try to pull a pair from the bottom of a stack. And with 10+ pairs of Air Jordan 1s and multiples of other shoes in different colorways all stored in identical shoe boxes, going through five or six of them before finding the pair I actually wanted made cleaning the mess even more painful.

I needed a new storage solution and I found it with these Drop-Front Shoe Boxes at The Container Store.

Design and specs

The Container Store Front Drop Shoe Box

Designed to hold shoes up to a men's size 13, The Container Store's Drop-Front Shoe Boxes are made of clear polypropylene and polystyrene - aka hard plastic. That means I can see exactly what's inside without having to read color codes and SKU numbers on the label and they won't break down over time like flimsy cardboard boxes.

What really makes these shoe boxes the answer to every sneaker hoarder or neat freak's shoe storage dilemma is their ability to stack neatly. Stacking shoe boxes of different sizes from different brands can quickly turn into the worst game of Tetris. These are all the same sizes and are designed to stack one on top of the other with getting damaged, so you can pile them as high as you'd like.

The best part is that you'll never have to unstack them in order to get a pair of shoes out. Compared to normal shoe boxes that have a top lid, the drop-front lid gives you easy access and you won't have piles of shoes toppling over each other. I haven't transferred all of my shoes into these boxes - yet - but I've started the process of replacing shoe boxes that are too beat up to stack and pairs I no longer had a box for with these.

The Container Store shoe boxes

Update after more than a year of ownership

I have a few Drop-Front Shoe Boxes and they've all held up wonderfully. Since I don't have to move them, there's virtually no wear and tear. The plastic hasn't cracked or hazed and I haven't noticed any negative effects on my sneakers in comparison to storing them in normal shoe boxes.

I've slowed down on buying more Drop-Front Shoe Boxes from The Container Store because I'm attached to quite a few of the original boxes that came with my sneakers. For certain shoes, keeping the original box adds to its collectability and overall value. If you're not into sneaker culture and you're thinking it's just a cardboard box, look at it like a highly collectible Rolex model. If there are two watches in identical condition, the one with the original box, paperwork, and extra links would be more desirable than the watch that comes with nothing.

If your footwear rotation is made up mostly of readily available styles, general releases, or you truly don't care about collectability, then you wouldn't be too attached to keeping your original boxes. Drop-Front Shoe Boxes are without a doubt better in terms of structure and accessibility.

Regardless of what your stance is, you should make it a point to store your shoes in some sort of container to prevent rapid aging which includes things like yellowing, foggy Air units, and cracked or crumbling midsoles.

The bottom line

Priced at $9.99 each or $56.94 for a pack of six, The Container Store's Drop-Front Shoe Boxes can become an expensive endeavor if you have a lot of shoes to store, but if you want convenient storage, it's definitely worth it. Whether you're trying to get a massive shoe collection under control or you just need a neat way to store the small number of shoes you wear on a regular basis, I've found that these boxes are a great way to start.

The 14 best cleaning products that’ll keep your car looking pristine, recommended by a car enthusiast

If you buy through our links, we may earn money from affiliate partners. Learn more.

Cleaning car
  • Some say a clean car drives better - but at the very least it looks better.
  • As spring nears, everyday drivers and collectors work to keep their cars free of dirt, pollen, bird droppings, and other debris.
  • As a car collector, these are the products I use and recommend, like soaps, waxes, leather conditioners, and microfiber cloths.

During winter, the extent of cleaning your car probably consists of removing snow and salt so you can actually see where you're going - but during warmer seasons it's all about attention to detail.

Dirt, pollen, tree sap, bird droppings, and normal road build-up are just some of the many things that can prevent your ride from looking its best.

Instead of constantly spending money at the car wash, you can piece together an arsenal of products designed to keep your car in pristine condition - and in the long run, you'll save a lot of money.

I own three classic BMWs: a 1991 325i convertible, a 1991 318is, and a 1993 525i wagon. With each of them being more than 25 years old, I do my very best to maintain and preserve their appearance and these are the products I use every year.

Whether you're a meticulous enthusiast preparing for a car show or an average person trying to care for your car, these are the products you'll also want at your disposal. You'll find everything from car wash soaps and waxes to leather cleaners and microfiber cloths - plus a few other unexpected picks.

Here are the best car cleaning and detailing products:

Chemical Guys Snow Foam Car Wash
A1Yk5B2OeFL._SL1500_

If your at-home car washes include using liquid dish soap from the kitchen, you're doing it all wrong. Chemical Guys' car wash eliminates dirt and grime with a pH-neutral formula that's safe on all surfaces of your car. It has a foaming agent for maximum suds and a fresh honeydew scent.

Chemical Guys Microfiber Wash Mitt
A1+hImAnNZL._SL1500_

To go along with the right car wash soap, you need the right cleaning tool. The Chemical Wash mitt easily cleans your car without scratching your paint. Its made of an extra-plush, soft, and absorbent microfiber material, and is easier to control than a towel.

303 Touchless Sealant (wax alternative)
303 Touchless Sealant

Waxing your car with traditional paste wax can be a long and tedious process. If you want the protection and shine of wax within minutes, 303 Touchless can provide it. The spray uses a SiO2 (silicon dioxide) base to create a hydrophobic and UV barrier on paint, and it's also safe to use on windows and wheels. It made my car shiny, smooth, and repelled water longer than other waxes I've used.

SuperClean Degreaser
3

SuperClean Degreaser has a multitude of cleaning uses, so it comes in handy for many of your car detailing needs. I wouldn't recommend using it at full strength on your paint, but it works wonders cleaning built-up oil, grime, or dirt on your engine bay, under-body, or exhaust pipes. When diluted, it does a great job at cleaning carpets, floor mats, and chrome pieces as well.

Brush Hero
Brush Hero

Described as "the ultimate detail brush," the Brush Hero is perfect for cleaning car parts — most specifically tough to reach areas like wheels. It features a rotating brush head that is powered entirely by water pressure from a standard garden hose. I recently had the opportunity to try it out and experienced amazing results.

Mother's California Gold Clay Kit
5

Even after washing your car meticulously, there's still dirt and debris that you just can't get off. That's where claying your car comes into play. The Mother's California Gold Clay Kit comes with two clay bars, Instant Detailer spray, and a microfiber cloth. Simply spray a liberal amount of detailer on the car and use the clay in a sweeping motion.

At first, you'll feel some resistance (that's all the fine dirt and debris). Once it's all clean, your paint will be looking and feeling like glass. Whether your car is relatively new or decades old, you'll definitely notice a difference.

Turtle Wax Microfiber Towels
6

If you thought using old t-shirts and bath towels as rags was an ok idea, it's really not. Although you may not be able to see it immediately, it can scratch the surface of your paint. Microfiber cloths are a safe and effective way to detail your car without creating damage. Instead of using the same dirty cloth over and over, this 12-pack ensures you'll have a bunch of clean cloths at your disposal.

Zymöl Cleaner Wax
7

One of the most important, but often-skipped, steps to having an immaculately clean car is a decent coat of wax. Unlike thick waxes that take a lot of time to apply, Zymöl Cleaner Wax goes on easy and it works exceptionally well. Derived from a 120-year-old German formula, the wax cleans your paint (though not as a full car wash replacement) and is gentle and safe.

For as long as I can remember, I've seen my dad use Zymöl on his cars. I've tried several other waxes for my own, but this is the one I've consistently come back to.

Armor All Extreme Tire Shine Gel and Applicator
10

While most tire shines dry up and wear away after a day or so, Armor All Extreme Tire Shine lasts for weeks. The gel formula adheres to your tires to create a durable shield from the elements. It's also a great way to avoid messy over-spray on your wheels and fenders that you'd expect from a traditional tire shine.

Turtle Wax Headlight Cleaner & Sealant
8

Almost all modern cars have plastic headlight covers that get dull over time. Not only do they start to look bad, but they can also drastically reduce your headlight output. The Turtle Wax Headlight Cleaner & Scrub Daddy Restoration Kit can bring your plastic lenses to like-new condition — improving your car's appearance and your visibility.

California Car Duster
4

If you've ever washed your car only to find it covered pollen the next morning, you know how frustrating it can be. Instead of having to clean your car all over again or let your fresh wash go to waste, use the California Car Duster. It effectively lifts dust with one pass and there's no need to use any water or cleaners.

Black & Decker Dustbuster Auto Vacuum
Black+Decker Dustbuster

Cleaning the inside of your car is just as important as cleaning the outside. With a cordless design and multiple attachments, the Black & Decker Dustbuster Auto Vacuum is perfect for reaching every part of your interior. Its compact design makes it easy to store in your trunk, too.

Leather Honey
9

If you have a leather interior, simply vacuuming isn't the only detailing step you should take. Leather Honey deeply penetrates into the pores of leather to protect new leather and rejuvenate old leather. In the long run, this conditioner can prevent cracks and tears associated with worn-out leather.

CleanTools Absorber
12

To prevent streaks or watermarks, it's always a good idea to hand dry your car after giving it a wash. If you've ever used a normal towel for this, you know how ineffective it becomes once it's soaking wet.

The CleanTools Absorber is more absorbent than a towel makes drying anything faster and easier. Just wring the water out when you're done and put it back in the included storage tube.

Tommy John
Tommy John is one of Insider Reviews' favorite places to shop for underwear, but they offer much more.

  • Tommy John started out as a men's underwear startup, but has evolved into a line of underwear and wardrobe essentials for everyone.
  • You can find dress shirts, blazers, bras and bralettes, loungewear, and activewear, and more at Tommy John
  • We've really liked everything we've tried from Tommy John. Below, you'll find reviews of everything we've tested so far.
Table of Contents: Masthead Sticky

While essentials like underwear and undershirts might seem basic enough to buy from anywhere, the overall designs had been largely untouched since brands that are probably still in your top drawer began making them in the early 20th century.

Founded in 2008 by Tom Patterson and his wife Erin Fujimoto, undergarment brand Tommy John was born out of Patterson's struggle to find comfortable undershirts to wear under his dress shirts. He ultimately decided to make his own, an idea that snowballed into re-engineering boxer briefs and, eventually, a full line of undergarments, loungewear, casual clothing, and even business attire for everyone.

With each updated design, Tommy John addressed the three Fs of clothing - fabric, fit, and function - to create more comfortable and longer-lasting pieces. Although the prices are considerably higher than other brands (men's boxer briefs range from $18 to $42 per pair and women's underwear ranges from $20 to $32 per pair), we've found great value in its styles.

Over the years, we've seen Tommy John grow from a men's underwear brand to a full-fledged clothing company with intentionally made pieces for all parts of your daily life. The Insider Reviews team has tested tons of Tommy John's products, from loungewear to dress shirts to underwear and bras, and we've been consistently impressed. It is easily one of our most-loved and recommended brands - and is only one of few brands that we collectively agree to be the best in its category every time.

Tommy John boxer briefs review
Tommy John

Read our full review on Tommy John men's underwear here.

The first product our men's style reporter, Amir Ismael, tried from Tommy John was a pair of Go Anywhere Boxer Briefs, and they single-handedly changed his perception of what it meant to be comfortable in underwear.

Since then, he's worn Tommy John Boxer Briefs in a variety of different materials and says they're all a solid choice for comfort, but which one is right for you ultimately comes down to preferences like whether you value breathability or silky texture.

They're slightly longer than most other boxer briefs, but that allows them to remain form-fitting, stay in place, and never ride up the legs from regular motion or heavy activity.

As someone who's received an untold number of boxer briefs to test, Amir says he has a unique perspective on what's truly a good value, and that Tommy John is the one underwear brand he'll happily pay for.

Available in four styles — ThongCheekyBrief, and Boyshort — Tommy John has a pair of women's underwear for everyone (at least, everyone who prefers feminine underwear).

Just like all of its other undergarments, the brand offers each style in different materials like Second Skin, Air, and Cool Cotton for personalized comfort. We asked several members of the Insider Reviews team to test out Tommy John's underwear, and literally everyone came away from the experience saying these are the best underwear they've ever tried, regardless of the fabric or style they chose to test.

With prices starting at $20, Tommy John's underwear is expensive. But everyone on our team will tell you that they are well-worth the money.

Tommy John undershirts review
Tommy John

Read our full review on Tommy John undershirts

Style reporter Amir has always struggled to find a valid reason to buy and wear basic short-sleeve undershirts. He finds that they're usually sloppy and uncomfortable to wear under his clothes and they lose shape after a few wears and washes.

However, he says that Tommy John's undershirts are engineered for comfort. Their patented design makes them a bit longer and easier to stay neatly tucked. The brand offers three undershirts in material types — Second Skin, Cool Cotton, and Air — and in his experience, they've all been more comfortable than standard cotton undershirts.

Regardless of which material you choose, you'll get a thin, form-fitting (but not tight) shirt. Crewnecks are great for wearing under button-up shirts with ties or other crewnecks, V-necks are good for wearing a shirt casually unbuttoned, and deeper V-necks are good for wearing under sweaters when you don't want any T-shirt material poking through at the neckline.

Tommy John

Read our full review on Tommy John Bras here.

After two years of research and development on important features like support, fit, breathability, and flexibility, Tommy John released its first collection of women's bras. All of them are wireless, but they don't sacrifice support for comfort.

Available in a variety of styles (including bralettes), they aren't excessively expensive, at least not when you compare them to a single piece of the brand's underwear, which can cost up to $32 a pair.

Several members of the Insider Reviews team have tested them out and they're some of the best they've tried. The one downside is that cup and band sizes are limited, with a DD cup and 38 band size at the top end of most styles.

Tommy John 360 Sport Leggings review
Tommy John 360 Sport Leggings

Read our review full review of the 360 Sport Leggings.

The Tommy John 360 Sport 2.0 Leggings are just as comfortable as the underwear and have many of the same attributes in terms of fit and support. Additionally, they have a media pocket on the right side, which fits large iPhones nicely when you're going on a run.

Although our style reporter says he's not a leggings-under-shorts kind of guy, he's gotten great use out of these as a base layer in cold weather. Even when he's not working out, he finds himself wearing the Tommy John Sport leggings under jeans to stay warm.

Tommy John's loungewear is on the pricier side, but we think it's worth every penny. If you want something lightweight, the set below will be your go-to. The materials are stretchy, swingy, and soft, making them comfy to lounge in for hours.

Tommy John Go Anywhere joggers review
Tommy John Go Anywhere Joggers

Read our full review of the Go Anywhere collection.

When he's not wearing jeans, Tommy John's Go Anywhere Joggers are style reporter Amir Ismael's go-to pair.

The quick-drying, moisture-wicking material is made from polyester, Tencel, and Spandex, and as the name suggests, he says he feels like he can go anywhere (within reason) while wearing them. He wouldn't wear them to work, but he's worn them to the gym, out to run errands, and casually a countless number of times, and they're super comfortable.

We might sound like a broken record by now, but the fit — just like everything else at Tommy John —  is what makes them so great. Amir ordered his true size and both the waist and inseam length fit him well. He also appreciated the extra zippered pockets on the front and rear, the locking cuff zippers, and the drawstring waistband.

Product Card (small) Tommy John Go Anywhere Lightweight Tech Stretch Pant review
tommy john go anywhere 6

Read our full review of the Go Anywhere collection.

Senior reporter Connie Chen says she feels like she's wearing cool and smooth pajama pants whenever she slips these on — they're that comfortable. Luckily, they look like a regular pair of relaxed work pants, so she can walk to, from, and around the office without attracting stares. She says they're also great for looking polished on work-from-home days when you want to feel like a functioning member of society.

Though they aren't skin-tight, they are tapered and polished. At the same time, there's enough stretch and extra space for me to squat down in them. The stretchy waistband and pull-on style tie it all together: Ultimately, these pants are low-maintenance and easy to wear.

Connie's only word of caution is that since the fabric is quite light and thin, the pants are not ideal for cold weather days. However, once the weather warms up, these are the pants you'll be able to wear without sweating through them.

Tommy John 2

Read our review on the Second Skin Sleep Joggers.

When it's a bit too cold or our reporter Amir is just lounging around, he likes to wear Tommy John's Second Skin Sleep Joggers. They're super soft against the skin, non-restrictive, and they feature two functional front pockets.

He admits that $68 is a lot of money to spend on pants just to sleep in, but they — and everything else from the loungewear collection — make for great items to splurge on or give as a gift.

Tommy John Stay Tucked Dress Shirt

Read our full review of Tommy John Stay-Tucked Dress Shirts

Read our full review of the Tommy John Un-Tucked Button Down.

Style reporter Amir Ismael says that the Stay-Tucked Dress Shirt is Tommy John's most impressive design. It uses a cotton stretch fabric to keep its shape after multiple wears and allows for a full range of motion without coming untucked. Although you can find similar features with other performance dress shirts, Tommy John takes performance to another level with an innovative technology called InvisiGrip Snap, which keeps the shirt tucked in.

InvisiGrip Snap Technology consists of three snapped buttons and an elastic hem at the bottom of the shirt. It feels a little awkward to wear at first, but you'll quickly get used to it — and most importantly, your shirt won't come untucked.

If you're looking for more of a casual look, Tommy John also makes the Go Anywhere Untucked Button Down. The shirt has the same level of stretchiness, but does without the elastic band and snap function at the waistband.

Tommy John Go Anywhere Blazer

Read our full review of the Go Anywhere collection.

Style reporter Amir Ismael says the Go Anywhere Everyday Blazer is special because it maintains a relatively classic look while still working in modern comfort and convenience features.

It's made from an innovative four-way stretch material that's breathable, moisture-wicking, and water-repellent, and it has 360-degree underarm stretch, which allows for a full range of motion.

He wouldn't recommend it if you're going for an extremely dapper or formal look, but it's great for commuting and wearing in business-casual settings.
